The art of Chinese calligraphy is thousands of
years old and is still practiced by artists in China to this day.
Most western people cannot read Chinese, but you don't have to be
capable of reading the language to appreciate the beauty of Chinese
calligraphy. Each artist usually learns a single style and will
practice that style their entire life, and the basic style will
always remain true to the works of ancient calligraphers. Each
artists style will emerge over time and their artwork will begin to
express more of their own personal style, this development process
is the essence of Chinese calligraphy, to improve your writing
skills and learn how to express yourself through your writing. The
dictionary defines calligraphy as "the art of fine handwriting" and
there is no finer example of handwriting than Chinese calligraphy.
If you are ever fortunate enough to watch a Chinese calligraphy
artist write or paint Chinese symbols then you will surely gain a
profound appreciation for this wonderful art form. I have had
the opportunity to witness many talented artists writing Chinese
calligraphy and it definitely gave me a greater appreciation of
Chinese calligraphy painting and the artists who spend their lives
perfecting their art.

ancient and valuable part of Chinese history. These artists are
